MINT offers a wide varieties of events during the school year as we believe performance is an important part of music education.

Winter & Spring Recitals

MINT hosts two recitals per school year for our students.  The recitals are held here at MINT every winter and spring.  This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase what the students have learned throughout the year and helps to build confidence and a strong sense of accomplishment.

Everything But Classical Festival (all instruments)

The “EBC” festival is held in the fall. This event is specifically designed to offer all students at MINT an opportunity to perform one piece of music from any genre other than classical music in front of a judge in a formal yet friendly setting.  Unlike most events in this area that are geared towards piano students only, this unique festival is open to students studying any instrument, including voice.   This Performance Festival is also open to all performance levels, even if your child is a beginner and has only had a few months of lessons!  Students will be awarded with constructive and encouraging comments from a qualified outside judge.  They also will be awarded a ribbon.  This is not an “in-house” event.  The location will remain to be determined until the time of registration.

M.I.N.T Performance Festival (all instruments)

The M.I.N.T Festival is held in the spring.  This event is specifically designed to offer all students at MINT an opportunity to perform one or two pieces of music along with optional technical requirements, in front of a judge.  Unlike most events in this area that are geared towards piano students only, this unique festival is open to all students, including pianists, string players, guitarists, drummers, and vocalists.   This Performance Festival is also open to all performance levels, even if your child is a beginner and just had a few months of lessons!  Students will be awarded with constructive and encouraging comments from a qualified outside judge and an award ribbon.  This is not an “in-house” event.  The location will remain to be determined until the time of registration.

Texas State Theory Exam

The Texas State Theory Test is held once a year in the month of April.  Students in Grade 1 and higher may register.

Studying music theory helps students understand music and re-enforces music reading and aural skills, both are essential parts of music learning.  Taking the test requires studying, which will also help students remember things that they learn in the lessons.
