Miss Daeun Han, pianist

Daeun Han began studying piano at the age of three and was quickly recognized for her musical talent, earning numerous awards from competitions throughout her childhood in South Korea. She received her early formal training at Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, where she developed a strong foundation in pianistic technique and musical interpretation.

Daeun earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Seoul National University, graduating Cum Laude, under the guidance of Ian Hobson. Following her undergraduate studies, she moved to the United States to continue her musical training at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. There, she completed both her Master’s degree and Artist Diploma while studying with Norman Krieger, further refining her artistic voice and performance skills.

During her time in the United States, Daeun received significant recognition through major competitions, including the Grand Prize at the Young Texas Artists Music Competition and First Prize at the Indiana Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters Instrumental Music Competition.

In addition to her performing career, Daeun is an experienced and dedicated educator. She previously served as a faculty member in the Young Pianist Program at Indiana University. She participated in the Distance Teaching and Learning Lab’s Cheerful Heart Project, providing online piano instruction to students in the Dominican Republic. Daeun is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of North Texas under the tutelage of Dr. Pamela Mia Paul, while serving as a Teaching Fellow, teaching group piano and private lessons.
