Ellen Miner, Cellist
Ellen Miner is a cellist based in the DFW area. She is currently pursuing her graduate degree at the University of North Texas studying cello performance with Dr. Horacio Contreras, and is a graduate of Messiah University with a B.A. in Music, having studied piano and cello with Dr. Patrice Ewoldt and Dr. Ai-lin Hsieh respectively.
She has had extensive experience teaching beginning through advanced piano and cello students, through both her own private studio and local schools of music in the Central Pennsylvania and DFW areas. She utilizes the Suzuki method and other pedagogical methods according to students' age and learning styles. Ellen is highly attentive to proper technique in the beginning years, believing that a strong technical foundation lays the groundwork for years of successful musical development and satisfaction.
In addition to teaching, she is an avid orchestral and chamber musician, having played with l’Association des Musiciens Amateurs d’Alsace and a Harp, Oboe, Cello trio at l’École de Musique St. Thomas during her time in Strasbourg, France, as well as with the Messiah University Symphony Orchestra, University of North Texas Concert Orchestra, ensembles in the Lancaster International Piano Festival, and the Jubal Quartet in York, Pennsylvania.
