Elizabeth Knox, Vocalist


Elizabeth Hale Knox is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Austin College in Sherman, TX and currently sings with the The Orpheus Chamber Singers, an acclaimed vocal ensemble out of Dallas.

Elizabeth Hale Knox’s voice students have attained professional placements, won NATS competitions, been awarded scholarship monies, and been accepted to top music schools, including Carnegie-Mellon and Eastman. She has successfully worked with singers of different levels and experience, from beginners to professionals. Ms. Knox’s students have studied and pursued classical singing, opera, baroque and choral singing, as well as contemporary commercial music genres, including musical theater, pop, country and rock. Ms. Knox is a highly sensitive and perceptive collaborator with her students, and combines these qualities with an exceptional ability to analyze and enrich all kinds of voices. She can address all aspects of singing, including improving musical skills, vocal technique, diction, artistry and performance skills. Having studied the piano for fourteen years, Ms. Knox is an excellent pianist and can accompany her students, as well as give them the tools they need to thrive as singers and musicians.

Before moving to Texas, Ms. Knox sang professionally and taught voice for many years in Chicago. She enjoys inspiring, instructing and empowering her voice students, and believes learning how to sing has myriad benefits for students at all levels.. 

Elizabeth Hale Knox, mezzo-soprano, has performed as a soloist with the Chattanooga Opera, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Bach Festival, the Evansville Symphony Orchestra and the Lafayette Bach Chorale Singers. In the Chicago area, she has appeared with Chamber Opera of Chicago, Lincoln Opera, DuPage Opera Theatre, Tower Chorale, the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, the Lake Forest Symphony Orchestra, and on the Sounds of the South Loop Recital Series. She has also appeared on PBS on the Emmy-nominated program, A Renaissance Christmas. 
Ms. Knox has been a full-time member of The Chicago Lyric Opera Chorus, Music of the Baroque, and The Grant Park Symphony Chorus. She has also performed with The Aspen Music Festival and Blossom Music Festival. She has sung as a professional church and temple soloist for many years.

Ms. Knox is a member of the The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), and also The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has served as a board member on the Chicago Chapter of NATS and as president of the Chicago Singing Teachers Guild. Ms. Knox received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in vocal performance from The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she Graduated with Distinction.
