Boyoon Choi, Pianist

South Korean pianist Boyoon Choi began studying the piano when she was just four years old, at the age of thirteen, she was accepted by the Sunhwa Arts School. Since then, she attended the Sunhwa Arts Music, the Sunhwa Arts High School. And her love of music propelled her thought her undergraduate studies in piano performance at KyungHee University in South Korea. 

After moving to the United States, she received her Master of Music and Certificate of Performance at Missouri State University. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Arts in Piano Performance with Prof. Gustavo Romero at University of North Texas. Prior to her studied at UNT, she studied with Prof. Leda Kim, Prof. Jae-Hyuck Cho, Prof. Youngmi Choi, Prof. MinJung Baek, and Prof. Hye-Jung Hong.

In addition to piano, Boyoon also playing in the Wind Symphony as pianist with Prof. Eugene Migliaro Corporon at UNT ; She recently performed with Wind Symphony conducted by Prof. Eugune Migliaro Corporon and Prof. Andrew Trachsel at TMEA, Austin, Texas and University of North Texas.

Boyoon has won several competitions including the Seoul music
competition, Brahms competition, Haneum Music Competition,
Performance Achievement Award at Kyung Hee University, etc. In the States she won several times Missouri Music Teacher Association Graduate Honors Audition (2021) , selected to participate at the Texas State International Piano Festival (2021), received a Don and Rosemary Witt Scholarship (2021-2022), Governor Scholarship (2021-2022) and Kiefer-Young Scholarship (2019-2020). she was also selected to participate at the Alps Music Festival at France (2012).

As a frequent piano collaborator, she has many times with Dr.
Daniel Ketter Cello Studio Recital at Missouri State University, Dr.David Hays Violin Studio Recital, Missouri State, Dr. Richard Todd Payne Voice Studio at Missouri State University and collaborative pianist for the Guest Artist recital , etc. And she is also a experienced collaborative pianist for high and
middle school students, completions, MMTA and MTNA.

Having taught her first student at the age of eighteen. Boyoon has educated more than 100 students in different levels and ages throughout her teaching career in Korea and the States.
