Karina Sim, Violinist

Karina Sim started playing the violin when her family moved to Moscow in 1999. The first music school she attended was Gnesin Moscow State Music School. After finishing middle school, Ms. Karina went to Moscow State Academic Music College of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. As a violinist, she participated in college competitions and international festivals in Austria, Greece, and Turkey. Ms. Sim started her Bachelor’s degree at the Moscow State Music Academy of Maimonida and after two years transferred to the Moscow State Musical Pedagogical Institute of Ippolitov-Ivanov. In 2011, participated in the International Competition in Ukraine for the young performers where she received a diploma of recognition. The following year she won second prize in the International Competition in Italy "Music XXI Century". To pursue her Master's degree, in 2014 Ms. Karina came to the United States to study at University of North Texas in Prof. Julia Bushkova’s studio. In fall 2015, she won a Concerto Competition at UNT. In March 2016, she performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto with UNT symphony orchestra and in spring 2016 received her Master's degree at UNT. That same year, Ms. Sim started working on her Graduate Artist Certificate and was placed in the position of first violin in a graduate string quartet at UNT.

Ms. Sim finds her passion in teaching children and adult of all ages. She is also experienced in teaching all levels from beginners to advanced students. She has high expectations for her students and understand how to build a strong foundation to help her students reaching their goals.
