Mevlan Mecid, violinist

Mevlan first began his musical studies at the age of 6, and later attended the Chetham's School of Music in the UK. He continued his undergraduate studies in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Jacqueline Ross and obtained his master’s degree in the USA at the Yale University School of Music, studying with Hyo Kang. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies as a Teaching Assistant at the University of North Texas with Julia Bushkova.  

He appeared as a soloist with Bilkent Symphony, Azerbaijan National, Presidential Symphony of the Republic of Turkey, and Bursa State Symphony orchestras. He was a prizewinner at Gulden Turali, Remember Enescu and Queen Sophia Charlotte violin competitions, and was a two-time recipient of the Nejat Eczacibasi Music Award. During the course of his studies, he had the privilege to perform under the baton of renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Bernard Haitink, and Marin Alsop. He is currently a section member of the Plano Symphony Orchestra. 

Mevlan is a devoted teacher with multiple years of experience in teaching beginner to advanced level students. He strives to teach with a personalized approach to each student’s strengths and needs, providing an encouraging and enjoyable learning environment.
