Nicole Silva, Vocalist

Nicole Silva, Brazilian-American soprano is a native of Dallas, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of North Texas where she pursued vocal studies under the tutelage of Carol Wilson and Jennifer Lane, and received Bachelor of Music degrees in vocal performance and music education. During her undergraduate studies, she has performed roles in opera scenes with the UNT Opera, which were Despina in Così fan tutte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro. She also competed in the Texoma Regional NATS Conference where she was selected as a fifth chair finalist. She has made her first student debut in the Festival Brasileiro (hosted by the University of North Texas), in which she performed selections from Villa-Lobo’s song cycle Modinhas e canções. During the course of her college career, she participated in Sankt Goar International Music Festival and Academy in Germany, where she had the opportunity to study with some of Europe’s renowned singers, such as Emilio Pons, Fransisco Araiza, Nikola Matisic, and Falko Hönisch, and also perform Lieder (German art songs) and operatic works by Strauss, Wolf, Mozart, Liszt, Fauré, Puccini, and Dvořak. She has also performed the role of Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar in Germany, Morgana in Alcina with Comet Opera in Dallas, and has recently made her debut in Italy as Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos with Trentino Music Festival. Ms. Silva will also sing the role of Servilia this season in La Clemenza di Tito with Comet Opera. She is currently active as a private voice instructor and freelance singer and piano accompanist in the Dallas metroplex. Ms. Silva enjoys working with students in all genres of music, she particularly enjoys developing each student’s unique voice with their weekly lessons and seeing them blossoming into mature musicians.
