Build Musical Skills and Confidence at Every Age
Founded in 2010, Music Institute of North Texas has taught more than 5,000 students at our campuses in Frisco and Prosper. We provide personalized music lessons for children starting age 4 and teens, helping young musicians build strong foundations, discipline, and a lasting love of music. Adult lessons are also available for learners ready to begin, return to, or continue their musical development.
Choose in-person lessons at our Frisco or Prosper campus, or learn online. Whether your child is exploring music for the first time or working toward performance and examination goals, our teachers meet each student at their level and help them progress with care. Many of our families return year after year, a reflection of the progress their children make.
Discover Lessons That Match Your Child’s Interests
Our teachers provide structured, personalized instruction across a wide range of instruments and learning formats:
- Piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, viola, cello, and harp
- Private lessons for focused, one-on-one learning
- Group lessons that encourage shared learning experiences in a small group setting
- Summer camps that keep young musicians engaged
- Online lesson options for added flexibility
Beyond notes and technique, students build habits that support success in music and beyond: regular practice, attentive listening, goal setting, and preparing to perform.
Learn From Teachers With Degrees in the Instruments They Teach
Our teachers don't just know how to play their instrument. They hold degrees in the instrument they teach. Our team of 25 to 30 teachers includes graduates of The Juilliard School, Yale School of Music, the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, Mannes School of Music, the University of Texas at Austin, the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Texas A&M University, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, Seoul National University, and Boston University.
That training shows in every lesson. Students receive expert guidance in technique, musicianship, and theory, along with the personal attention that keeps them motivated. When comparing music lessons in Frisco and Prosper, your teacher's training is one of the most important differences to look for.
Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Certification
Music Institute of North Texas is a Founding School for the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), and we host RCM examinations at our school every May.
Unlike school, music has no built-in grade levels. RCM fills that gap with 10 internationally recognized levels of certification, so students and parents can see clear, measurable progress year after year. The program is comprehensive: students don't just learn pieces, they also master technical requirements, musicianship, ear training, and music theory.
Our teachers are experienced in preparing students for RCM exams, and hundreds of our students have earned their certifications with excellent results. Because RCM is recognized internationally, certification is also a strong extracurricular achievement for college applications.
Why Families Choose a Music School Over In-Home Lessons
Parents often tell us their children take lessons more seriously in a dedicated, professional learning environment. Our studios are free of household noise and distractions, so students can focus fully on their instrument and their progress.
A music school also offers opportunities that in-home lessons can't, including recitals, on-site RCM exams, group lessons, and summer camps. These experiences give students more ways to apply what they learn and stay excited about music.
Performance and Achievement Opportunities
For families seeking more than recreational lessons, we support goal-oriented learning at every stage. Students may prepare for recitals, RCM examinations, competitions, festivals, and All-Region and All-State auditions. Our students have earned competition awards at the local, state, and international level, as well as All-Region and All-State placements, and each pathway is approached with respect for the student's readiness and goals.
Some children are motivated by performance, others by creative expression, and others by the satisfaction of mastering a favorite song. Our approach makes room for each student's reasons for learning while keeping a strong foundation in music.
