Unkyoung Kim, Vocalist

Dr. Unkyoung Kim is an accomplished musician and educator whose training spans voice, strings, and piano. She holds a voice major with a minor in choral conducting degree, as part of a broad academic foundation across multiple instruments. She went on to earn a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, master's degrees from Texas Christian University and Appalachian State University, and advanced studies at the Musikhochschulen of Hannover, Detmold, and Weimar in Germany.

Dr. Kim has taught at the university, school, and private levels for more than a decade. She served on the violin faculty at Tulane University and the community school faculty at Southeastern Louisiana University, and later directed middle and high school orchestras at International Leadership of Texas. She currently teaches strings in the Plano Independent School District and has taught voice, piano, and strings privately in the Dallas area.

Her work extends well beyond the studio. Since 2007, she has directed the Global Artists Society, an organization that promotes artistic collaboration and cultural exchange. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs, and her honors include the Vienna International Composition Award, the Rotary Club Peace Award, and the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. She has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who for her contributions to music education.



Dr. Kim is also a published author in Korea. She loves helping students discover their own voice and find lasting joy in making music.
